Pretty, floral and sweet aromas of blue flower and forest floor are doled out in a very controlled and feminine manner. The wine is elegant and refined and shares many of the same characteristics that you would find in a top-rated Pinot Noir.

Smells like tawny Port, Christmas cake and flowers. Full-bodied, with chewy tannins and a wonderful intensity. Has a cinnamon finish. Stylish and powerful. Needs a little bottle age to tame the tannins. Nerello Mascalese and Nerello Cappuccio. Best after 2009. 1,080 cases made.

Slightly more austere on the nose than the other reds in this line-up, hinting at redcurrant, flowers and tea leaf. High in acidity and lean, but with plenty of persistent, pure flavors of ripe red cherry, herbs and minerals. Finishes with a suggestion of orange peel. About as close to pinot noir as an Italian variety can get.
