Domaine Faiveley Mercurey Clos des Myglands 2005
|Region||France, Burgundy, Mercurey|
This vintage will certainly be a point of reference in Burgundy for its great consistency. The quality of the wines obtained is due to the ripeness and the almost perfect condition of the grapes picked. The red wines with their very deep garnet colours have concentrated fruity and spicy aromas and are very structured, velvety and greedy on the palate.
Concentrated and a bit monolithic now. Firm tannins are wrapped around a center of cherry and blackberry notes. Vibrant and long, with a spicy, cherry aftertaste. Needs time, but has fine potential. Best from 2011 through 2025. 300 cases imported.
The wine is dominated by its dry tannins, which ride over the less exuberant fruit. Toast shows through, giving spice. Only on the finish is the juicy fruit given a chance. Like many Faiveley wines, this needs time-6 to 7 years at least.
