Quinta do Enxodreiro", one of the most famous and oldest properties of the Douro is where Barros Portwines are produced. The area of production is also extended to other properties such as Quinta S. Luiz.
The harvest takes place in September, in an agreeable and pleasant atmosphere. From the fermented must a very special wine is born: a Porto Barros which has since its youth, an incomparable bouquet that will reach its plenitude after maturity
In this fresh and calm shelter - the cellars at Vila Nova de Gaia - Barros Ports reach their maturity. The quality of Barros Ports is supervised by our qualified tasters. Their frequent tastings and experience allows them to define perfectly the potentialities and the character of each wine. The grapes, from which Barros Portsare made, suffered incredible rough climacteric conditions, excellent to obtain a great wine. To acquire its unique taste, Port needs a stable temperature throughout the years of maturation, which will take place in oak-wood casks, most of them centenary. Along the years, Portwine changes and improves. It becomes more delicate, and its tonality changes gradually. During this period of ageing Barros Ports achieve the perfection that has made them famous near the connoisseurs.
